Generations Family Health Center, Inc. is a regional community health center covering a thirty seven town rural region in eastern Connecticut with sites located in Willimantic, Danielson, Norwich and Putnam. Our dedicated staff provides a full range of preventative and primary care medical services to all ages including health maintenance of chronic diseases, 24 hour on call, hospitalization coverage and patient case management, as well as complete behavioral health and dental services at our Willimantic and Putnam sites and through our School Based Health Center and ACROSS THE SMILES mobile dental program operating in the Northeast and Windham service area.

This full time dual-role position will perform both functions as a Patient Access Rep and Medical Assistant when needed. The Patient Access Rep serves as the first line of communication for the patients and visitors accessing the health center both on telephone and in person. This person makes appointments, greets patients, distributes and collects all paperwork necessary to activate patient, data enters all relevant information into computer, checks out the patient, including posting procedures, making appointments as indicated and collects payments as needed while providing excellent customer service.
The Medical Assisting duties entail assisting with the coordination of patient flow, preparation of patients for examinations and procedures. This person will prepare charts per protocols, be responsible for accurate data entry, cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment, keeping inventory of medical supplies, stocking exam rooms, and ordering of medical supplies, as needed. Medical Assistants must keep in compliance with all agency protocols including documenting of waived testing and controls. Medical Assistant is responsible for some administrative functions, such as scanning of documentations.
Completion of MA program and Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred (CMA/AAMA). Maintain current CPR certification. Experience working in primary care office preferred. Strong organizational, communications and attention-to-detail skills, adaptability and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, dependable, demonstrated reliable/good attendance record, ability to work a flexible schedule, demonstrated ability to accurately access, input and retrieve computer data, and ability transport oneself within service district is required. Experience with EHR/EMR helpful. Bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants preferred based on patient population.
