    Patient Account Representative (Temp)



    Generations Family Health Center, Inc. is a regional community health center covering a thirty seven town rural region in eastern Connecticut with sites located in Willimantic, Danielson, Norwich and Putnam.  Our dedicated staff provides a full range of preventative and primary care medical services to all ages including health maintenance of chronic diseases, 24 hour on call, hospitalization coverage and patient case management, as well as complete behavioral and dental services at our Willimantic site and through ACROSS THE SMILES mobile dental program operating in the Northeast and Windham service area.


    LOCATION:   Willimantic, CT (Billing Dept)






    Under the direction of a designated supervisor/manager, the Patient Account Representative is responsible for determining patient’s ability to pay and arranging patient payment agreements and troubleshooting patient billing issues according to agency policy and procedure.



    High School Diploma or equivalency; two (2) years of experience in primary health care setting, and knowledge of insurance plans and managed care plans. Knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of terminal digit file system. Basic typing, computer and keyboarding skills are essential. Familiarity with practice management software, spreadsheet and word processing software packages preferred. Understanding of current industry billing rules, practices, and guidelines such as ICD 10, CPT coding, HIPPAA regulations, and credentialing desirable.  Excellent skills related to organizing and managing daily work tasks. Strong mathematical and analytical skills.  Strong attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills.  


    Generations offers a competitive hourly pay rate: $13.50/hr



    Experience/ Qualifications: 

    • Coding certificate strongly preferred
    • Accounts receivable background and ability to analyze data and aging accounts required
    • Must be comfortable with making collection calls and follow up
    • Strong working knowledge of insurance charge posting data entry including CPT, ICD-9/10 and ADA coding helpful.
    • Experience working in primary medical care setting. 
    • Knowledge of medical terminology a plus
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
    • Focused and precise, good math skills, ability to use calculator
    • Prefer experience working with Sage Intergy (or similar) practice management system
