Health Informatics Technician

 

Generations Family Health Center, Inc. is a regional community health center covering a thirty seven town rural region in eastern Connecticut with sites located in Willimantic, Danielson, Putnam and Norwich.  Our dedicated staff provides a full range of preventative and primary care medical services to all ages including health maintenance of chronic diseases, 24 hour on call, hospitalization coverage and patient case management, as well as complete dental services at our Willimantic and Putnam site and through ACROSS THE SMILES mobile dental program operating in the Northeast and Windham service area.

Responsibilities

Job summary: The Health Informatics Technician will support clinical information systems and all aspects of data flow/analysis for the reporting efforts of the agency’s clinical applications with a goal of providing accurate and consistent data reporting.

 

Qualifications: Associates Degree in Information Systems, Health Information Systems or commensurate experience and/or relevant information technology certifications.  Experience in a systems administration/data analytics setting.  Technical support, help-desk, troubleshooting and reporting building experience preferred.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • The Health Informatics Technician will participate in an innovative team dedicated to advancing clinical delivery and quality outcomes through effective clinical software use and support.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures for the technical support of clinical informatics software in accordance with HIPAA and all other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
  • Under the supervision of the Health Informatics Manager the Health Informatics Technician will trouble shoot, apply resolution and provide prompt feedback to end users on Service Requests as assigned on the Spiceworks helpdesk.
  • Monitor and maintain schedules, queues, logs and processes such as EDI Rx and Lab queues and updates as needed to ensure effective and efficient clinical software use and performance.
  • Administer aspects of the Patient Portal and other interfaces, which may also include, but not limited to Intergy/IEHR, HL7 interface engines, or similar software as business objectives require.
  • Support clinical data for analysis, facilitating workflow, regulatory, quality of care, outcomes and business objectives. Validate data post upgrades and systems or reporting requirement changes.
  • Under the direction of the Health Informatics Manger the Health Informatics Technician will provide system administration support for all clinical systems in use at the organization in all departments.
  • Under the direction of the Health informatics Manager the Health Informatics Technician will provide support for the Dental Department on the Mediadent platform including but not limited to maintaining users, adding providers, building templates and macros, creating queries and reports within Mediadent, understanding the interface between Intergy and Mediadent platforms and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Health Informatics Technician may be assigned tasks or projects to be completed under the supervision of the IT Director and/or Health Informatics Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by Health Informatics Manager, IT Director or Senior Officers.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Strong PC skills as well as solid experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Computer programming  experience is helpful
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • The willingness to learn; ambition and motivation to excel
  • A sense of urgency when providing support
  • Ability to perform light lifting- 25lbs.
  • Ability to transport self to all sites as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.
